The "Evolution of Music" has done alot in shaping and
changing our modern day lives. In my time growing up, we
could listen to our music as we would walk around with our
transistor radios, or playing the "45's", "78's" or LP's on
our "Record Players". It was the Beatles that brought both
the sights and the sounds of the "World of Rock and Roll"
into our living rooms, with their debut on the Ed Sullivan
Show
almost 40 years ago. Today we now have the world
of CD's, Internet "music downloading" and "all day" concert
tours. And of course that early Ed Sullivan Show and
Dick Clark's American Bandstand, have been replaced
by MTV, and the new world of "music videos". The "video"
has almost become more important then the "music".
Today, our "music" has become both a "visual" and a
"auditory" experience for us.

Well stand back MTV, a new kind of "music video" is
here----and it is call "KTV".

Each of you will be given a chance to "create" AND "star" in
your very own music video. It will be very simple. You may
work with 1 other person for this project, and the other
person can be from my other Animal Behavior classes.
Both you and your partner will each receive the same grade
for this video. You may choose any musical song (no bad
words or phrases please) that you would like to accompany
your video. The minimum length of the video should be at
least 2 minutes long. The videos themselves will be created
around the theme "We All Can Make a Difference". Your
video will involve, animals/ nature/organizations that help
make our world a better place. If you would need help with
some ideas---you will need to see me.
The actual video pictures that you can use could be any
personal video footage that you, a friend, or relative might have
had from vacations/outings/etc. We would like to stay away
from professionally done videos. You may also include
"snapshot" pictures as well. Keep in mind of our theme as you
choose your "footage".

In your video, either one, or both of you, will actually become a
"star" in the video. We will be using "blue screen technology", so
you and your coproducer will need to find a creative way to get
yourselves into your video.
We will have a presentation by our Media Center on the
actual ideas of how to "create" your video, as well as the
different technologies that you will be using to actually put
the video together. The people in the Media Center will be
there to help you make the video, but you must start early---
DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST WEEK TO START
YOUR PROJECT. You must see the Media people about
setting up your time appointments for using the different
machines.
This "Music Video" is actually going to be apart of your
Final Exam Grade. The video will be due two weeks before
the Final Exams start
. It can be turned in early if you want
and can. You have almost the whole semester to do this
video. You will need to start now in your collecting the
video footage---Do Not Wait Until The Last Day
The "video" is going to be apart of the Final Exam and will
be worth 125 points. The breakdown of the points is as
follows:
Music (with no bad words or phrases)----------20 pts.
Video Pictures ------------------------------------------------------35 pts.
Title and "Credits" Introduction----------------------10 pts.
Your "costarring" in the video---------------------------25 pts.
Creativity***-----------------------------------------------------------35 pts.
Creativity***---what is it and what am I looking for???***
-----Did your video follow the theme "We all Can Make a
Difference"
-----How did you get yourselves "involved" in the video
-----Creative or different ways the actual videotape was
shot
-----Does your music go with the video pictures
-----Transitions in the video
-----When the final video product is shown to our class---the
first words out of our mouths is---"That is really good" or
"Wow was that different" or "Those video producers were
really good"
If you have any questions or problems---you must see me
or the people in the Media Center.
I am looking forward to seeing you at the KTV Music
Video Awards Night at the end of the semester.
